Showing TRUE JMU spirit!

Last spring, I told you about Andy Eblin (’11) who organized JMU students, faculty, staff and friends in community efforts to reverse the damage done to JMU’s reputation locally after Springfest. Andy and his group represent the best of JMU’s spirit of Being the Change. You can read the full post here: https://jmubethechange.wordpress.com/?s=andy+eblin

This morning I received notice that, after a summer recess, Andy’s army is regrouping.  The group is meeting tonight! Here’s the link to Dukes Helping Harrisonburg’s Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=147446671959016 Check it out!

If anyone in the Madison Community wants to join Andy and friends, you’re invited. Come out and help as Dukes Helping Harrisonburg make plans to spread the true JMU spirit all around Harrisonburg,

JMU students — through thousands and thousands of hours of volunteer work, through community and academic partnerships, and in thousands of other ways — benefit the Harrisonburg and Rockingham County communities and beyond.

Am I overstating the impact of JMU for positive good in the community?  I don’t think so ….. just think what it would be like if JMU were not here.  As a longtime community member myself, I can’t imagine!  Students like Andy Eblin make me smile!  How about you?
