I love the concept of this blog. I haven't been hearing "Be the change" enough this year, and I'm glad to see it's still coming strong! I look forward to seeing the future entries!

thanks so much for you post about my english channel swim on the jmu be the change website! I just kept putting one arm in front of the other until I got to france. All of the stroke work in my high school and from my JMU swim team coached came in handy during those 12 hours and 28 minutes in the cold.

I did the swim to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project because someone inspired me, Jeremy Feldbusch, a soldier who was blinded in Iraq.

I posted all of the photos from my actual EC swim up
on my blog www.karahnazor.com on MY PHOTO ALBUMS. I like the ones of
me with the ships in the background.

Again, thanks for your comments.

I just wanted to thank whoever nominated me for Be the Change. I am truly honored. Teach For America has been a challenging and rewarding experience. I have loved every minute working with my second graders in the Bronx. "Be the change you wish to see in the world," has been a driving force for me and I have JMU to thank for that.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the JMU students (and alumni) have been doing for green collar jobs. A job fair is neccesary to get green collar into everyones view. Visit greencollareconomy.com and help others learn more about green collar jobs in our forums. Thanks again.

Friday was a magical evening at the Convocation Center. The music was beautiful, the greetings and welcomes eloquent -- especially Gandhi Center director Sushil Mittal. After naming the many many awards Tutu already has received -- including the Nobel Peace Prize, of course -- Mittal joked, "This man does not need another award." After the audience finished laughing, Mittal said, "But we need to give you an award." A wonderful sentiment.

The crowd was a fabulous mix of students from JMU, EMU and BC, faculty, donors and a large representation from the local Menonnite and Brethren communities. When Tutu rose to speak the outpouring of admiration from the audience was just huge. You can read or watch his speech on jmu.edu. It was inspiring to say the least.

A great night. One of the best I've experienced on campus.

Gina, thank you for being an inspiration to the persons with brain injuries. In fostering positive recoveries, it can be critically important to find dedicated role models who are willing to share their own personal challenges. I have found that the personal touch is especially helpful in surmounting many of the cognitive, emotional, physical, and social barriers to active participation. Finding your message has made a positive impact on me today.

Barbara Dodson says: "yesterday at the Liberty Middle School assembly where Vickie teaches seventh grade math & pre-algebra, she received the Liberty Light award. Students wrote essays about the teacher who had “most changed their life”. Vickie received multiple nominations & the winning essay was about Vickie. What a wonderful recognition for a job well done. This is just her first year the in Hanover School System, third in all, and I can only imagine the impact she will have on young students as she continues her career in education."

Great going!
